What is this place?
lot.chat was created by a small team of ⚡🌹💀 heads 💀🌹⚡ to provide independent and free tools for our community. We have a group mailing list where users can chit-chat, trade tickets (no scalping), and sell wares. All you need is an email address to start chatting.
We also provide a live chatserver and a random Grateful Dead show generator if are in to that sort of thing.
How do I use the mailing list?
The mailing list is easy to use. Just sign up with your email. You will recieve an email with instructions on how to start chatting. Please be respectful and considerate if you plan to dominate the rap jack.

How do I use the chat server?
The server uses XMPP, a secure, stable and private messaging technology that has existed since 1999. Using the lot.chat XMPP server is not as easy as facebook, but it is doable for anyone that has an attention span. You download an XMPP client, sign up, and then you can chat.
- Download a chat app for your platform. Choose Apple, Android, or Windows
- Open your app and create a new account for lot.chat
- Choose a username and strong password. The format is the same as an email address! For example:
jerrygarcia@lot.chat - Join our group chat,
the-lot@rooms.lot.chat, and start chatting!
Privacy
At lot.chat, we value privacy and free communication.
- 🔒 Unlike most big tech platforms, we do not log metadata, sell personal information, or spy on you.
- 🌍 Consider using OMEMO encryption for end-to-end security and privacy when using the chat server.
- 🛡️ Avoid using your real name or personal email for account registration.
